Joseph Harrison was awarded third prize by the judges for his poem ‘Thalassa’. When asked for advice on composing poems, Joseph recommended: ‘Don't feel forced to use meter or rhyme, but also don't dismiss them as archaic- meter often can give your words a force, a flow, something which is sometimes a bit lacking in vers libre; rhyme is a lovely thing when not forced, and often helps makes poems more cohesive, and endings more final.’ ...
