Summer School 2014

The 2014 Tower Poetry Summer School was held at Christ Church from Tuesday 26 – Friday 29 August 2014. Thirteen students, aged between 18-23, were tutored by Jane Griffiths of Wadham College, University of Oxford whose fourth collection, Terrestrial Variations, was published in 2012 and David Wheatley of Aberdeen University, the author of four collections of poetry with Gallery Press, and whose Reader’s Guide to Essential Criticism of Contemporary British Poetry was published by Palgrave in 2014.  Jane Draycott, awarded first prize in the Royal Society of Medicine’s 2014 Open International Hippocrates as well as the author of Pearl and Over, joined the group for an evening reading and informal discussion and Mishtooni Bose (Christopher Tower Student and Tutor in Medieval Poetry in English, Christ Church) led a discussion of  ‘Found in translation: modern poets and Old English craft’ on a subsequent evening.

Something to be Said, the anthology of the 2014 Summer School, was published in October 2015.
