Tower Poetry Summer School 2018 Open for Applications


28 – 31 August 2018

Young poets between 18-23 are invited to apply for the residential school to develop writing and critical skills through a series of exciting and challenging workshops run by Stephen Romer who is a translator of French poetry including that of Yves Bonnefoy and has published four full collections of poetry, including Yellow Studio (2008) which was shortlisted for the 2008 T.S. Eliot Prize, his most recent book is Set Thy Love in Order: New and Selected Poems, and Andrew Wynn Owen who received an Eric Gregory Award in 2015 and Oxford’s Newdigate prize in 2014, as well as being longlisted in the 2011 Tower Poetry Competition, his debut volume, The Multiverse, is published in May, 2018. There will also be guest readings by Olivia McCannon and Rebecca Watts.

All tuition and accommodation costs will be paid for by Tower Poetry.  At the end of the summer school, the students’ work will be collected and it is intended that selected poems will be published in a poetry pamphlet (the 2016 collection is Flowers From the Dark).

To be eligible for the summer school, students should be usually resident in the UK and Channel Islands.  They should be no younger than 18 years old, and no older than 23 years, on 28 August 2018. Students will be selected for the course on the basis of written work.  If you would like to apply for a place, send three of your own poems together with a covering letter listing any previous writing achievements and outlining your reasons for wanting to take part in the summer school.
